Description

#2016 History and Development of the Theatre Pipe Organ Tour

Instructor: David Weesner

The Colorado's largest Theatre Pipe Organ is alive and well at Immanuel Lutheran Church.  The pipe organ is called the “King of Instruments” for good reason. There is no other instrument that can create even near the variety and volume of music as one organist at the console of a large orchestral pipe organ. Although pipe organs have been around for centuries, the theatre pipe organ came into being about 100 years ago and had a short, but memorable career. Many of these organs continue to thrill audiences of all ages with all kinds of sounds! This course will introduce the student to the instrument, its music, and the mechanics that make it work.

David Weesner, BS in Architecture from University of Colorado.  He has worked as an architect for 40 years, has volunteered with the Pikes Peak Theatre Organ Society, and has been a member of the First Lutheran Church choir for over 25 years.
