#2025 Introduction to Playing the Theatre Organ Tour - NOTE NEW TIME

or “Look Ma! Both Hands and Both Feet!”

Instructor: Dave Weesner

There are few things as impressive as a massive organ console with hundreds of stops, multiple keyboards, foot pedals, switches, and many other buttons and controls. How does one person operate all that with just two hands, ten fingers and two feet? This class will explain what the organist has to work with and how the instrument helps the organist bring forth the unique and magnificent sounds hidden inside the pipe chambers.

This class is not for accomplished organists. It is for those who maybe know how to read music and play some piano and would like to feel more comfortable when seated at an organ console. It is for those who just like to hear theatre organ music and would like to understand more about how the organist controls the instrument. It is for those who always wondered what all those multi-colored stops, buttons and switches really do. If any of this sounds interesting, it is for you.

You will get a chance to play Colorado’s largest theatre pipe organ if you want to, but you won’t be forced into it! Come with an open mind and limber fingers.
